In a world that often glorifies the virtue of agreeability, there is an empowering mindset shift that many individuals are embracing. It involves recognizing the importance of prioritizing one's own well-being and happiness by refraining from unnecessary tasks or obligations that do not contribute positively to their livelihood. This shift, from being agreeable to valuing self-care and setting boundaries, can be transformative and liberating. In this article, we'll explore the benefits of such a shift and how it can enhance both personal and professional lives.
Read MoreSo, my mother bought me a juicer. I was purchasing several bootles of juice (and a smoothie) at Arden’s Garden every morning for over a month. For context, I became a flexitarian in March (we’ll save that discussion for another day😊 – but basically Flexitarian = cutting meat out of my diet, most of the time), and I wanted to make sure I was still getting all the nutrient I needed.

Read MoreTo celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth (and also to celebrate my birthday AND do a bit of market research for my #mixUP venture;-), I ended the month of March with trip to Cartagena, Columbia with an amazing group of women.
While traveling, I spoke to an architect, several supply chain professionals, a high level retail buyer, an assisted living consultant, a restaurateur (…and on).
Everyone on the trip, seemed to be thriving in their career or business venture of choice. In speaking with each of them I noticed a trend…

The history of 80s and 90s tech, is right up there.
Standout lessons from 80s/90s tech on failure to innovate.
✅ 1. When we don’t assess novelty for utility out of fear of “disruption”, we set ourselves up to become obsolete.
✅ 2. Any competitive advantage can run it’s course. You have to prepare yourself for “what’s next”. There will always be a next.
✅ 3. If the utility outweighs the risk, it’s probably best to be an early adopter or at least invest in R&D to see how novelties might dovetail with your existing services or products. Not doing so, will inevitably give your competitors an advantage.
Read MoreHere is the thing... when you’ve navigated rough waters before, you may think you have a certain skill level, and perhaps you do. But the ocean is VAST. Sometimes you just don’t know until you know. You can be doing the same task, with the same skill but if the weather is different it can cause the water to be choppy. This can imperil the vessel or even cause it to be capsized.
So watch the forecast and keep your ears primed for the wisdom, so you can understand the full picture and hopefully avoid being in the wrong boat.
Read MoreMy last post Just Add Water reminded me water is my favorite thing; particularly the ocean. For me there is no vacation without a body of water nearby. You can ask anyone I’ve traveled with, if you want to climb a mountain, go traipsing through the jungle or jump from a tree, it’s probably going to be a “no” for me.
BUT if there is a boat or a beach involved, I’m all the way in! I just love being close to water, admiring its quiet power and listening to the waves hit the sand (and a cocktail or two doesn’t hurt 🤗😉 but I digress).
ehem!
I saw a meme that said “You will bloom if you take the time to water yourself” and it resonated.
I wrote the other day about manifestation; not as some “pie in the sky” concept but as WORK. And someone challenged me saying “that doesn’t work for everyone”.
I had to really think about it; because everyone’s circumstances are not the same. We are all starting from different places. While I sit at an intersectionality that all but guarantees there are many that have more privilege than me. I can also recognize my own privilege.
And I just kept thinking:
I hope someone speaking life into you.
I hope someone is pouring into you.
I hope you haven’t given up.

Do you know why?
People call it manifestation but I find that term too nebulous. Because folks tend to think it implies if you hope or wish really hard it causes things to happen. The truth is, you can have a stroke of luck or unexpected blessing but this the probability is low.
Do you know what manifestation really is? It’s intention and right action. To put it more plainly it’s focused WORK!
Let me explain. When your intentional work is pure and deliberate you:

Otherwise other people’s thoughts, feelings and issues (that many times have little to do with you personally) become part of your thoughts and feelings.
